Wiping a drive properly means more than running a tool and trusting it. EndByte sanitizes to NIST 800-88 across a dedicated wipe bench: overwrite for hard drives, and the drive's own firmware sanitize or secure-erase commands for SSDs, with every drive monitored from start to finish. If your contract or policy names a specific standard — DoD 5220.22-M, British HMG IS5, German VSITR, Gutmann and 20+ others — we run that instead, and the certificate records exactly which one was used.
Then comes the part most providers skip: a full-surface read-back of every sector. If anything other than zeros comes back, the drive fails — and failed drives don't get a second chance, they get physically destroyed. Only drives that pass complete verification earn a certificate.
Because wiped drives keep their hardware value, software sanitization is also what powers our free destruction program — if we keep the verified drives afterward, the entire service can cost you nothing.
